What Mineral Separation Efficiency Can You Expect From Jones WHIMS Technology?

The Jones Wet High-Intensity Magnetic Separator (WHIMS) is a highly effective technology for mineral separation, particularly in separating fine-grained paramagnetic materials from the non-magnetic materials. Its separation efficiency depends on several factors, including feed material properties, magnetic field strength, feed particle size, and operational settings.

Typically, the Jones WHIMS technology delivers high separation efficiency for minerals such as:

  1. Iron ore: It is widely used for recovering fine-grained hematite and magnetite, achieving purity levels of 60-68% Fe content with high recovery rates.
  2. Chrome ore: It efficiently separates chromite from silicate-based gangue minerals.
  3. Manganese: Jones WHIMS can recover manganese ores by isolating high-grade concentrates.
  4. Non-metallic minerals: It is effective for materials like kaolin, quartz, and feldspar, improving product purity by removing impurities.

In general, WHIMS technology can achieve recovery rates exceeding 90% for most magnetic materials, with contaminant removal efficiency varying depending on material composition but typically resulting in significantly improved product quality. Jones WHIMS is particularly advantageous for fine particle sizes, often up to less than 2 mm in diameter.

Additionally, its efficiency is supported by the ability to adjust the magnetic field strength (up to 20,000 Gauss or higher) for different applications, allowing for optimized performance tailored to specific mineral compositions.
