Stone Crushing Process Flowsheet

The stone crushing process can be broken down into the following steps:

1. Raw Material Transport:

  • The extracted raw stone materials are transported from the blast site to the primary crusher.

2. Primary Crushing:

  • Depending on the design of the crusher machine, a feeder may or may not be required before the primary crusher.
  • The haul trucks load the shot rock into the primary jaw crusher.
  • The primary crusher feeds the crushed rocks to a primary vibrating screen.

3. Primary Screening:

  • The primary vibrating screen directs larger stones to a surge pile and smaller stones to a stockpile.

4. Secondary Crushing:

  • The surge pile acts as a buffer between the primary crushing plant and the secondary crushing plant.
  • Located at the bottom of the surge pile is a tunnel, which feeds the secondary crusher plant.

5. Secondary Screening:

  • The rocks leaving the secondary crusher are screened in multiple screen decks.
  • The screens direct the rocks to different size stockpiles.

6. Tertiary Crushing:

  • The larger size rocks from the secondary screen are directed to a tertiary crusher machine.

This comprehensive stone crushing process flowsheet ensures efficient size reduction and classification of the raw materials, allowing for the production of a variety of aggregates tailored to the specific requirements of construction and other industrial applications.

How to Improve Crusher Efficiency?

1. Run the crushers at or near full load at all times

2. Use premium efficiency motors and cogged V-belts (savings can range from 5 to 15% of existing costs)

3. If possible, achieve greatest size reduction in the primary stage

4. In the secondary and tertiary crushing stages, use crushers that accurately provide the material size required in one pass

5. Minimize/eliminate the re-circulating load circuits and shut off equipment when not needed
